Exhibition Contest in Montréal and Paris :
VISUAL ART - SCULPTURE - PHOTOGRAPHY
12 prizes to win including 3 plane tickets between Montreal and Paris
and Inscription in the Larousse dictionary Drouot Cotation.

Regulations
Art. 1 – le Club des arts de Montreal / The Arts club, (hereinafter called the Club)
The Club is a non-profit and charitable organization (association) whose mandate is to disseminate the artistic productions of creative artists to enlarge the population’s interest into arts, since 1912.
Art. 2 - Objective
The Club hosts two exhibitions, one in Montréal and one in Paris, to mark the 100th anniversary of the organization. The Club organizes this contest to select the participating artists and 12 prizes will be distributed. The present contest will be held through Internet only.
Art. 3 – Contest Awards
First prize for three selected artists, an artist by category;
- Airfare and transportation of the works between Montreal and Paris;
- Inscription in the Larousse dictionary Drouot Cotation subject to Article 9;
- A 14 minutes radio interview in Montreal in the context of Council’s Chronicles.
Second prize for two selected artists:
- The artists selected second and third are assured that their works will be exhibited in Montreal and Paris;
- Inscription in the Larousse dictionary Drouot Cotation subject to Article 9;
- Transportation of works between Montreal and Paris;
- A 4 minutes radio interview in Montreal in the context of Council’s Off Chronics.
Third prize for seven selected artists
- The artists selected 4 to 10 inclusively are assured that one of their works will be accepted for both Montreal and Paris exhibitions;
- Inscription in the Larousse dictionary Drouot Cotation subject to Article 9;
- Honourable Mention of the Jury;
A maximum of fifty copies of each of the winning entries may be reproduced by the Club on a suitable support. 10% of the reproductions thus made will be donated to the artist and the others, will be used to promote the artist and may be sold by the Club to fund its operations to disseminate the works of artists.
Art. 4 – Registration deadline
The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
PLEASE NOTE:
Following the high demand from all artists, we will need additional time for all file's applications. After consultation "The jury" has decided to grant a period of one more month to give everyone more time to subscribe and send their Art works. We wish you good luck.
Art. 5 – Three categories of works
Three categories are open to this contest, including: Visual Arts, sculpture and photography;
The works must be original and unique. They can be in black and white or color. The works may include text, collage (excluding 3D for handling security reasons), etc.;
They should be performed on
- Canvas minimum size of 60 cm x 30 cm (24" x 12") and maximum size of 90 cm x 90 cm (36" x 36"), including frame;
- The sculptures should not exceed 40 cm in height and 30 cm x 30 cm on ground;
Photographs should be in A4 minimum format (8.5" x 11’’) and A3 maximum format (11’’ x 17’’), framed without glass, Plexiglas accepted. Framework must respect the following dimensions : minimum size : 60 cm x 30 cm (15’’x 12’’) and maximum size of 60 cm x 90 cm (24’’x 36’’).
Art. 6 – Conditions of participation
6.1 – All the artists or artists from Quebec and France are eligible for this contest as well as the Quebec Council’s artists members and members in good standing of the Club of Arts in Montreal if they meet the conditions listed below;
6.2 - Membership in the Club of Arts / The Arts Club by paying a membership fee. http://www.theartsclub.org/ and;
6.3 - Sending an Internet mail folder containing the following elements:
A – Family name, first name, discipline, full address, phone, e-mail and available Website;
B – Submit photographs of six works for the competition while mentioning "100th anniversary Contest" (Print quality: 300dpi);
C – An artistic résumé (career profile) including artistic statement (in French and in English);

6.4 – An exhibition agreement should be made according to The Quebec law on the professional status on the visual arts, applied arts and crafts and literature's between the diffusers.
Art. 7 – Selection mode
- As of February 5, 2012, the works having fulfilled all the conditions of participation will be subject to an initial selection of the jury. The judge’s decision is final;
- The selected works will then be displayed on the Facebook page contest and will be subject to public vote from February 15, 2012 and voting will be closed on March 1, 2012 at midnight.
Art 8. – Artists other than winners
Participants who have not passed the first selection, but meet the Club’s artistic criteria will be admitted in the Club. They will see one of their works accepted for exhibitions in Montreal and Paris, that other place is subject to Article 9.
Art. 9 – Conditions of entry in the Larousse dictionary Drouot Cotation
One selected work will be given to the Club by the artist against a receipt for tax purposes of the Province of Quebec. The work thus forwarded will be part of an auction by La Maison de Cotation Drouot, in Paris.
Art. 10 – Limited participation
The Club reserves the right to match the categories if participation is not large enough or to cancel this contest if not enough participants enroll.
Art. 11 - Copyrights
- Entrants authorize the Club to freely use their works.
- The artist grants the Club and its partners an assignment of copyright in the works selected when the intended use is to promote the artist, his work, the Club or the present contest when no commercial activity intended. In all cases, no fees are charged by or to the artist.
Art. 12 – Acceptance of the present rules
Entry in this competition implies the participant’s complete acceptance of these rules & regulations;
The non-compliance with this Regulation will result in the cancellation of the candidature.
Art. 13 – Final provisions
Invalid clauses
In the event that any provision in this agreement was invalid, it shall not invalidate other provisions of this contest.
Duties applicable
This Agreement shall be deemed to have been signed in the city of Montreal for all purposes relating to this Agreement which will be governed by Canadian Law, including relevant tax laws.
