ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Native of Montreal East, Michel T. Desroches was raised in the shadow of the smokestacks of Pointe-aux-Trembles refineries ... The urban and industrial setting, both chaotic and strictly ordered, greatly marked the creative world of Desroches.
A graduate of Visual and Media Arts at UQAM, he focuses his work primarily on morphology, face and body language. His work stems from a pictorial space fragmentation by sinuous lines in arabesque appearance.

Desroches vision has two sides. The first one, is what the artist calls "sensible forms". This approach is organic and definitely ordered. The artist design is free and spontaneous, but only when he is in a meditative state. He then creates a set of structural forms "almost ornamental." The sensible forms appear Plaisant to the eyes of the viewer, leading the viewer to discover fragments, beings and atmospheres. The structures appear to be inhabited by a mechanism, a motor, a music ... Intriguing and dynamic, the sensible forms are unpredictable, shifting, malleable, full of surprises.

His drawings are always inspired by a free form of spontaneous movements. Desroches also explores the human face. Here, the order gives way to chaos. Without a preconceived idea, the artist runs his pencil or his brush on the surface of the canvas, drawing on internal memory. This spontaneity is born of febrile characters, sketched from life. These "moods" are always created in a hurry. Timeliness combined with the passion of the artist works are electrical ... Abstract vs. figurative, order vs. chaos, calm vs. agitation, the artistic approach of Michael T. Desroches is out of this world and As for his own world, it is definitely unique.
