ARTISTIC STATEMENT

My name is Michelle Riendeau, and I have been painting for nearly 10 years. I realize gestural works using mixed media. Between the sudden movement and delicacy of Japanese calligraphy, the gestures in my painting allow everyone the freedom to interpret my painting as they feel. So feel free to browse through my gallery to see my works of art. I hope you enjoy the vibrant colors of my works as much as I had fun achieving them. Perhaps you will find images that provide you with some emotions that help you discover a new world. If so, I would be honored to create paintings that can be found on the walls of your home or office.
BIOGRAPHY

Exhibitions
In addition to an exhibition at the Casa Obscura in 2001, I conducted several exhibitions where my paintings have been evaluated by a professional panel. In 2005 and 2006, I participated in a network of artists from the Bas-Richelieu, which allowed visitors to enter the world of creative artists. I also made a solo exhibition held in January 2008 at the Galerie Horizon of Sorel-Tracy. I am part of the permanent exhibition in two galleries: Horizon of Sorel-Tracy and gallery Addendum Verchères, where one of my works won the audience award in 2008 during the days of culture.

Cultural mediation
Apart from my work as a visual art teacher, I'm committed to the community. In recent years, I have been involved with the process of teaching creative work to people. My goal was to offer new perspectives to students.
In the summer of 2003, the city of Saint-Ours provided the public with a cultural festival "Open House". The public could visit the most beautiful private gardens where there were painters and musicians. That's when we realized a collective mural that has been exposed to the community center of the city. During the summer of 2006, I was asked to work with the Center for the Arts in Human Development at Concordia University and the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal to support the learning of adults with intellectual disabilities to realize artistic projects in the museum context.

Other Projects
My involvement in arts has allowed me to wear many hats. In 2001, I was involved with the company "théatre libre", at the Lion d'Or of Montreal. My background has led me to design and produce costumes for theater; I had also discovered an interest as an assistant director stage. Finally, I took advantage of my artistic talent to design the poster production.

Membership
I am involved in various organizations such as the Coalition of visual artists in Quebec (RAAV), member of the Quebec association of specialist teachers in visual arts in Quebec (AQÉSAP)
