| ARTISTIC STATEMENT |

The artist Alena Plihal was born in Czech Republic and lived in Quebec since 1989. Certificate holder in Fine Arts at UQAM, she continue her training in workshops the living model and into abstract painting workshops. The combination of charcoal, pigment, acrylic and oils gives Alena extraordinary freedom of expression. The human body is presented as solitary and sometimes in couple in love and attempts to set the trace of the body, especially speaking of his desire to exist forever and transcend death. In abstract, the combination of oil pastel, charcoal, acrylic and the superposition of the oil causes rich transparency. Color, main theme addressed in works of Alena takes us into a world of flavours, in a world of contrasts where the composition is transformed into image leaving brush strokes, charcoal and touches of fingers to become into a comfortable balance for the eye. The ferity of the artist wanting to communicate becomes overflowing full of love and passion. |
