ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Born in Mexico, Dasil moved to Montreal in the spring of 2002, he is a self-taught professional artist for nearly twenty years. Alongside with a career in commercial photography, corporate communications and television production, Dasil has developed an original, personal and rich pictorial work. His recent arrival in Canada, coincides with his willingness to devote full-time in his painting career.

Handling both the oil or acrylic ink, Dasil offers imaginative figurative works, influences as surrealist, and classical, fantasy. The precision of his design, combined with the rich color tones, allowing the artist to share with us some of his passions, such as music, mythology, or history.
All his work is a celebration of life. Dasil likes to present images composed and complex, the details of which are not easily discerned at first glance.

Often working on commissioned works, the works of Dasil are found in several private collections, both in Mexico and the United States, Canada, Argentina, Germany and France.
"Painting for me is a reflection of ourselves, kind of like a life sketching of our passions, our desires and our spirituality".
Each work is inspired from everything around me, interrelated with my imagination. My interpretation of reality, wether being a person, place, nature, or music, is a source of motivations that reaches deep inside and then reflects my own interpretation of reality.

Although my paintings regularly invite careful observation, the transparent wall still remains concealed as a second meaning and something beyond ...
Often, my images will become accessories to other creations, trying to confuse the eye and to transcend the appearance first. Thus, the original idea will be reinforced or complemented by a second concept.

Color is another fundamental element of my work, as it plays an important role in defining my style. Research, selection and composition of tones allow me to create moods and atmospheres, in order to reach my own emotional balance.
